Dream Come True of Western Connecticut
During the 2000 - 2001 school year, the Sisters of Kappa Chi Alpha chose Dream Come True (DCT) of Western Connecticut as the official philanthropic organization of our sorority. Dream Come True of Western Connecticut is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization founded in 1984 with one purpose in mind: to grant wishes to seriously, chronically, and terminally ill children from Fairfield, Litchfield, and New Haven counties. While KXA has always been involved with various charities, the Sisters wanted one in particular on which to focus their efforts. Since then, our Sisters have participated in many events and fundraising activities for Dream Come True.
Besides raising money for Dream Come True, Kappa Chi Alpha has participated in many other Dream Come True events. Some of the activities include gift wrapping for donations (to DCT), the DCT Bike-a-thon, where our Sisters directed traffic and helped at rest stations, Dream Bowling, where our Sisters provided face-painting for kids, and Brunch with Santa, where we got to be Santa's helpers and assist Santa in handing out gifts to all of the Dream kids. One of our favorite events for which we volunteer is the Annual Dream Come True Gala. This annual black tie event raises over $50,000 for the children and their dreams. It is an amazing night of food, fun, and dancing. Our Sisters help with silent and live auctions, ticket sales, as well as enjoying the night with some of the Dream Kids and their families.
